Arrival at Florence International airport and private transfer to your accommodation. Check into your accommodation and rest of the day at your leisure for resting and relaxing. At sunset enjoy our Barchetto tour. Florence is a river city, inextricably bound throughout its history to the ebb and flow of the Arno. This is a unique and special tour that allows you, while comfortably seated on the “barchetto” (a traditional Florentine river boat similar to a gondola), to gain a new perspective on some of the most beautiful and historically important buildings in Florence.
Start your Florentine sojourn with a guided orientation walk to admire the most important Florentine sites: the Cathedral with its Giotto Bell Tower, Piazza della Signoria with the Palazzo Vecchio and the Ponte Vecchio knowing for its gleaming gold shops. The tour also includes the visit of the Accademia Gallery which houses the famous statue of David by Michelangelo. Afternoon at your leisure.
This morning enjoy a guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery, one of the most important World art museums with masterpieces of famous painters such as Caravaggio, Giotto, Leonardo da Vinci and many more. A break on the terrace with a view on Signoria’s Square to enjoy a flavorful coffee/cappuccino is included. Lunch and afternoon at your leisure.
Following breakfast and check out visit one of the best and the most awarded producers of extra virgin olive oil in Tuscany. You will visit the olive oil mill the place where olive oil’s magic starts! Then, as you do for wine you will pair your extra virgin olive oil with the right food! In the afternoon spend your time discovering the small villages of the Chianti area like Montefioralle, Greve in Chianti, Volpaia and Radda in Chianti. Next continue to your accommodation in the Siena area.
Following breakfast your private driver will pick you up at your hotel and take you to the Chianti area which offers a unique landscape, with green, gentle hills covered with wide fields of vineyards and olive groves, small stone villages, characteristic parishes and countryside homes in stone. Visit one of the most prestigious wineries of the area. The visit will be followed by tasting of their superb wines and a delicious Tuscan lunch. After lunch your driver will take you to the romantic hilltop town of San Gimignano where you will spend some time at your leisure. Return to your accommodation in the Chianti area.
Following breakfast and check out your private driver will take you to the tiny walled fortified village of Monteriggioni. Lunch at your leisure. Next proceed onto Siena. With your private guide discover the loveliest medieval Italian town with its amazing Cathedral, the Torre del Mangia and the shell shaped Piazza del Campo where the famous Palio Race is held twice each summer. Next continue to your accommodation in the Val d’Orcia area.
This morning your driver will take you to a lovely agriturismo immersed in the Chianti area where Stefania and Susanna will teach you how to prepare a full delicious Tuscan menu. Before starting the cooking class you will do shopping in a local market. Afternoon at your leisure for discovering other lovely villages of the Chianti area.
After being picked up at your accommodations in your private luxury minivan with an English-speaking driver, you’ll be taken to a winery in Montepulciano where you’ll go on a guided tour of the estate’s cellars. Following your guided visit, you’ll have a wonderful tasting of several fruity, rich wines, including Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
After your visit, you will have a chance to wander through Montepulciano’s narrow, ancient streets. The walled town of Montepulciano is perched on one of Tuscany’s high peaks, at 605 meters, or 1,950 feet, above sea level. It contains many incredible art treasures, as well as Etruscan and Roman wine cellars, some dating as far back as to the time before Christ. On your break for lunch, you’ll be able to have a delicious meal at an excellent local restaurant specializing in traditional Tuscan recipes. In the afternoon visit Bagno Vignoni an absolutely unique tiny hamlet with a series of ancient buildings all surrounding the central Renaissance swimming pool with its beautiful arcades. Return to your accommodation.
Today enjoy a fun cooking class in a farm in Pienza that also produces the tasty Pecorino cheese. You will first visit the cheese factory and then enjoy a cooking class to learn how to prepare the most delicious Tuscan Menu. In the afternoon you’ll proceed on to Pienza, a delightful town located within a 20-minute drive across the Val d’Orcia from Montepulciano. Pienza is crowded with small gourmet cheese and food shops where you can taste many different local varieties of sheep’s milk cheese. Some are aged in walnut leaves, others are covered in ashes or adorned with grape skins to make “drunken cheese.”
Following breakfast and check out your private driver will take you to your accommodation in Fiumcino. On your way there stop in Orvieto, Umbria’s loveliest town. Time at your leisure in Orvieto. Next continue to Fiumicino and check into your accommodation.
